Success in operation
Compared to the over 100 years constantly improved combustion engine, the fuel cell technology is still in its infancy. It is all the more impressive how reliable the HotModules in Europa, the USA and Japan already operate. The dynamic availabilities measured in practice already achieve the levels of traditional engines. The fuel cell plants enable a high quality heat utilisation and clearly improved environmental results and at the same time noticeably reduced costs for primary energy. Their independence from the network lets them run without interruptions and also appeals to sensitive areas like computing.
From the generation of electricity, steam and hot water for hospitals through to combining power-heat-cold to meet the requirements of a shipyard, the HotModule of CFC Solutions is suitable for a number of applications. The plants are just as flexible when it comes to choosing combustibles. An example: Since 2005, a HotModule in Ahlen (Westphalia) runs on sewage gas and impresses with its independence from the natural gas network. In Berlin, liquid combustible methanol is used in the innovation park fuel cell in Berlin-Treptow. In Leonberg near Stuttgart, biological waste becomes energy. This is the first time in the world that a HotModule has been used to convert biogas obtained from biological waste into electricity and heat.
Despite the high costs of the HotModule compared to traditional technologies, the fuel cell is highly popular. Partners from politics and economy actively encourage the project. That way, they help to further optimise the technology and to cope with increasing quantities - and therefore lower manufacturing and maintenance costs.

Open for partnerships
CFC Solutions is able to fall back on the tight nit, world wide distribution network of its mother company Tognum. Strategic and technological co-operations are welcome at CFC in order to improve developments for application and system solutions or to optimise individual components in mutually beneficial partnerships. |
