The high temperature fuel cell - combined power - heat energy generation for the future
CFC Solutions GmbH, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Tognum Group, develops and manufactures stationary fuel cells for environmentally friendly production of electricity and heat.
CFC Solutions has already installed more than 20 high temperature fuel cells of the type HotModule in Europe.
The high temperature fuel cells typically generate 245 kilowatt electricity and 180 kilowatt heat (combined power and heat). They are superior to conventional piston engine gensets: Their high electric efficiency of almost 50 per cent outstrips traditional technologies and the almost soundless operation is especially popular with inner city applications.
With over 315.000 hours of operation, the plants proved to be ready for the market. Reason enough to increase production and number of staff. For this reason, the company moved to a new production plant in Ottobrunn near Munich/Germany at the end of 2004. On over 7.400 square metres, 85 members of staff push development and manufacturing. The construction of power plant units is planned for the future, containing electric performance of up to three mega watts cogeneration or trigeneration solutions (Trigeneration = power-heat-cold/chilling).
Technological Partnership
The fuel cell plants integrate the HotModule® system design of CFC Solutions with the Direct FuelCell® technology of Fuel Cell Energy Inc.
